Consists of records documenting the administrative activities and special projects conducted by the Assistant Secretary for Envrionmental and External Affairs, Thomas E. Lovejoy, 1987-1994. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, information files, brochures, clippings, black-and-white photographs, and books. Some materials were created and maintained by Rumana Ahmad Chaudhuri and Janet W. Solinger. Special projects documented in these records include the Smithsonian's 150th Birthday Party on the Mall, the Smithsonian Associates program, and the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
