Summary:
Consists of records documenting curatorial and professional activities in the fields of electricity, graphic arts, and photography. The curatorial staff of electricity were in the Division of Electricity, the Division of Electricity and Nuclear Energy, the Division of Electricity and Modern Physics, and the Division of Information Technology and Society prior to the creation of the Division of Information Technology and Society in 1995. Also prior to that year, the curatorial staff of graphic arts and photography were in the Division of Graphic Arts, the Division of Graphic Arts and Photography, and the Division of Photographic History. Some earlier records predate the creation of the museum. Staff represented include Elizabeth M. Harris, Assistant Curator, Associate Curator, Curator, and Curator Emeritus of graphic arts, 1965-1999; Bernard S. Finn, Associate Curator, 1963-1964, Curator, 1965-2005, and Curator Emeritus of electricity collections, 2005- ; W. James King, Jr., Associate Curator, 1956-1958, Curator (acting), 1958-1960; Robert P. Multhauf, Curator (acting), 1961-1962; museum specialist Elliot N. Sivowitch; and Michelle Anne Delaney, Associate Curator of photography, 1989- . Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; professional society information in regard to committtees, symposiums, and special events; meeting agendas and minutes; proposals; lecture papers, articles, and book reviews; publication surveys; press releases; collections management, exhibition, workshop, research grant, and award information; architectural drawings and floorplans; reports; policies and guidelines; photographs; agreements; pamphlets; videotapes; newspaper clippings; original artwork of printing presses in the Graphic Arts Collection; biographical information; and brochures. Some materials are in electronic format.
