Founded in 1958, the Friends of the National Zoo is a non-profit organization intended to provide support for the Smithsonian's National Zoological Park in Washington, DC. This support takes many forms and includes making grants to fund zoo projects and staff research, facilitating corporate partnerships and other outside underwriting, operating park concessions, and promoting training and education on issues of importance to the Zoo and it audiences.
