Following his retirement as Director General of Museums and Director of the United States National Museum in 1971, Frank A. Taylor continued to serve the Smithsonian as a Consultant to Secretary S. Dillon Ripley. Taylor was involved mostly with projects concerning museums, collections management, and the museum profession. These included the Mid-American Center in Arkansas; planning for a museum support facility and the last museum site on the Mall; and advising the Collections Policy and Management Study Committee.
