"French. 1717-1808. 'Of all the masters of the Burin, Wille has never been surpassed for the firmness and beauty of his lines. The changing lights of silk, the softness and bur of velvet, the stiffness of heavy drapery, and the curves and dimples of the human flesh are given with equal force and precision. What Dow wrought with the brush, Wille achieved with his pencil."
