A bust of James H. Lucas, by the same sculptor, is to be seen on the center table. The likeness is strongly delineated, but we do not consider the work by any means equal to the inchoate bust of James Harrison, which MacDonald has now fashioned in clay in his studio. The latter, which will soon be finished in white marble, is almost perfect in design, and interprets the character better than a biography could do. [P. 82; see entry 02570082 for other work noted in this commentary.] Bust in Marble, Clay, or Plaster, original and life size.--Premium, diploma and $20, awarded to J. Wilson MacDonald, St. Louis. [P. 86; exhibited under heading: "SCULPTURE, CARVING, ETC." See entry 02570082 for other work noted in this commentary.]
