13. "Dream of Italy" (Landscape), by William L. Sontag, National Academician. A pleasing little picture, painted from nature in one of Sontag's best moods, and well worth a million of the huge perfunctory things that he has of late thrown off his easel for the Western market. The classical old ruins, redolent of a historic past, give much zest to the picture. [P. 62; exhibited under heading: "Paintings."]
