For the best Statuette, in marble, clay, or plaster, original, George Hess, of New York, received the first premium, a diploma and $20; entered by F. Hess, of St. Louis. This piece was justly admired. The attitude, features, and position, were happily chosen, while the general make-up was perfect. [Pp. 96-97.]
