A life-size portrait, half-length, of Thomas H. Benton: an original, by Miss Peale, of this city; a lady of the direct line of those hereditary artists, the Peales, who proves her lineage by her brush. Her picture, which seems to date back some twenty years, is exceedingly faithful and spirited. She has seized and strikingly expressed whatever was most characteristic in the countenance and air of this remarkable man. [P. 25.]
