"By Ostade (Van Adrian), born 1633, died 1685. " The truth of this little picture cannot be better told than by referring to Pilkington's dictionary of painters, last edition, who says at the close of the article, 'his works are very scarce, especially those of his best time and manner; and when the genuine productions of Ostade are to be purchased, no price is accounted too exorbitant."
