Bloom Characteristics:
Inflorescence is up to 10" long, arching or pendulous, and can have 5-12 white blossoms which all open at the same time. Waxy flowers are 1.6-2" across and long lasting.
Foliage Characteristics:
Leaves are up to 12" long, but only about an inch wide. They are glossy and a bit leathery.
Fragrance:
Strong and potentially unpleasant.

Nepal to China (Yunnan to NW Guangxi)

Mixed montane forests; 1000-1800m
Description:
This medium sized Himalayan orchid has very fragrant white flowers which hang in a pendant. It was first introduced to Europeans in 1830, and is considered relatively easy to grow in the home.
Bloom Time (Northern Hemisphere):
January to April; peak in February and March
Medicinal / Pharmaceutical:
In Nepal, a paste made from the pseudobulbs is put on the forehead for headaches and fever, and the juice is taken for indigestion.
