observation window (one-way glass) hood for postal facility; used for surveillance of postal workers; seems to have been spray painted green over grey steel. From the James A. Farley Post Office, this one-way window allowed inspectors to observe activity in a New York City post office from 1914 until 2008. Lookout galleries like this one are still in use at many postal facilities to enhance security and deter theft.
