Description:
In 1974, Vatican City organized an international art competition for International Book Year. Five stamps were chosen from works submitted by youths of more than twenty nations. Vatican City issued the stamps on April 23, 1974. The theme was "The Bible, the Book of Books."
The theme of each stamp is:
15-lire - And There Was Light
25-lire - Noah Abandons Himself to God
50-lire - The Annunciation
90-lire - The Nativity
100-lire - The Lord Feeds His People
IPS, Rome, printed the stamps in panes of fifty in four colors, perforations 13 1/4 x 14, using rotogravure. The designs were printed in a quantity of 1,450,000.
