On November 25, 1971, Vatican City issued two stamps commemorating the Holy Millennium of Hungary.
The 50-lire stamp features an image of St. Stephen of Hungary taken from a priestly vestment prepared circa 1031 for the church of Szekesfehervar and the Madonna. The 180-lire stamp depicts the Madonna as patroness of Hungary taken from a Venetian missal of 1511.
The series includes 1,650,000 stamps, which were issued in sheets of forty. Their postal validity is unlimited. The stamps are perforated 13 1/2 x 14, and they are not watermarked.
