On November 22, 1963, Vatican City issued the 1963 Christmas stamp portraying an African nativity scene from a terra cotta by Burundi artist Andre Bukuru. The set includes values of 10-lire, 40-lire, and 100-lire and shows a red-brown vignette with variously colored borders.
There were 1,500,000 sets printed in the rotary photogravure process. The stamps remained valid until December 22, 1963.
