Description:
February 1869 envelope (no contents) probably from New York to the American Minister in Bogota, Columbia, paid 18¢ for rate by American packet to Colon and British transit service to Gulf Coast locations, from there to be transported inland to Bogota. Letter paid with a 12¢ black and a horizontal pair of 3¢ rose 1861 adhesives. New York credited 8¢ to the United Kingdom in red crayon. Letter arrived at the British post office in Colon on 1 February 1869.
