This comic strip, printed on April 25, 1985, features the characters “Frank and Ernest” as a letter carrier and customer. Cartoonist Bob Thaves writes and draws the "Frank and Ernest" script, which he created early in the 1970s. Frank and Ernest are fluid characters and appear in a variety of roles.
Thaves, a self-taught cartoonist, first worked as a consulting psychologist. Throughout that career he also worked as a cartoonist, successfully submitting his creations to the Saturday Evening Post and The Saturday Review. He submitted the Frank and Ernest strip to the Newspaper Enterprise Association, where it was immediately accepted and began daily publication on November 11, 1972. It continues to appear in U.S. newspapers.
