Description:
This Herbert Hoover Issue stamp features a portrait of Herbert Hoover, the thirty-firth President of the United States. He was born in 1874 in Iowa. Hoover assisted with humanitarian efforts in Europe during the First World War. He served as Secretary of Commerce under President Harding and Coolidge, and despite no electoral or military experience, he won the 1928 Presidential election. Following the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression, Hoover struggled to create the framework to contain the economic crisis and promote recovery. He was not re-elected.
