Description:
This Liberty Issue stamp commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, a battle that took place during the American Revolutionary War. Contrary to the name, the battle mainly took place on the adjacent Breed’s Hill in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The American forces fought to fortify and maintain the hills outside of Boston. The British forces won the battle, but suffered significant casualties. The stamp features an image of the Bunker Hill Monument, as well as the Massachusetts Flag of 1776.
