Description:
This Battle of Brooklyn Issue stamp commemorates the 175th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn, also known as the Battle of Long Island, during the American Revolutionary War. It was the first major battle to take place after the United States declared independence. The British forces outnumbered and overpowered the Continental Army. The stamp depicts General George Washington’s evacuation of the army.
