Description:
On the Swiss flight of September 26, 1929, the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin dropped this letter over Basel. The German postage was tied by the zeppelin's onboard postmark. The mail was found not until October 18, 1929. The blue cachet "Verspätet aufgefunden" means "found delayed." The cachet's origin is unknown.
The Swiss Airmail Catalogue by Roland Kohl refers to a drop such as this as "Abwurfversuche" or "trial drops" on these Swiss flights (Sieger 35, 36, 37). No further information has been reported.
