504138 Delphinus delphis 196 cm male JGM 122 Monday 9 December 1974 IWC met again. We are now considering the questions of stock management in the morning, sei whale biology in the afternoon. It is not a very satisfactory arrangement, and most of the time is spent running in circles. Doug Chapman return from a walk at lunch to report a dead dolphin on Black's Beach. It turned out that Jim Coe had seen it on Saturday, but hadn't said anything. Peter Best, John Bannister and myself picked it up in the dark after the meeting. It was an adult male Delphinus (JGM 122) in fairly good shape, as it has been cold lately. Brought it back and left it in the pick-up overnight. Tuesday 10 December 1974 Measured the Delphinus this morning. IWC spent an incredible morning doing not much at all with the management questions. Worked up the Delphinus with Best over lunch. Found some nematodes in the anterior extension of the pterygoid sinus, ?trematodes attached to the wall of the pterygoid sinus. Froze the head for further work by CWP. Spent the afternoon reviewing the report on sei whale biology. Dinner with EDM, VMK, Best, Bannister. Good discussions after.
