002 specimens previously listed in ledger. this specimen was cataloged as the type of bdellostoma polytrema, but has only 10 gill openings (vs. 14) so it can not be a type of this species according to wisner. wisner has identified the specimen as eptatretus bischoffii, 17 march 1987, on the basis of the 10 gill openings. the specimen is disintegrating. additional information on the specimen is on a note in the jar. small tag in jar lists the number 277, which may be a station number. see wisner and mcmillan, 1988, trans. san diego soc. nat. hist., 21(14):239
