Notes:
Called in by Emerald Isle PD at 6:00am on 10-Jun-05. GNL and A. Gorgone arrived ~8:00. While on the beach, a passerby said that she had seen it the night before, alive in the surf ~ 10:00 pm and she called Duke Marine Lab (no calls came into the stranding network) By 10:30 pm the animal had stopped moving. Animal was very emaciated with many skin lesions. Liver was extremely flaccid. Two bony protuberances about the size of an orange were found on the caudal vertebrae. Occipital condyle was roughened with mild congestion in the bone.
