The catalog number originally used for this lot was USNM 696658 but according to the Ledger that belongs toTyphis sowerbii Broderip, 1833 from off Nevis in the caribbean and not a Tridacna from New Caledonia. The correct catalog number for the Tridacna derasa lot is USNM 696678. The specimen needs to be tracked down and the label corrected. The problem is that the labels for the Tridacna shells are taped to the inside of the shell and it's not possible to flip the large shells over to see the label. It would have been nice if a copy of the label had been taped to the outside of the shell as well.
