ethanol – mounted in glycerin jelly and then permanently in Canada balsam using the “double cover glass mount” detailed in The Collection and Preservation of Animal Parasites pages 39-40 (see attached)
The fish that the Gyrodactylus were found on were collected from the wild in Nov. of 2016. The fish were then held in captivity for 4 months here at the USDA ARS National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center on a recirculation system until the parasites were found and collected in March of 2016.
