This species is characterised at once by the colour of the abdomen, which is waxy yellow on the whole first tergite and at the base of the third segment, blackbrown, black haired elsewhere. The Head. Eyes peculiar, lower third small-facetted, black, upper two thirds large-facetted. Here an ivoryyellow band surrounds a central blackbrown spot; below, the mentioned band is broad, whereas it gradually narrows to the vertex. 3 Ocelli. Post-ocular rim blackhaired. Cheeks blackbrown, black haired; upper cheeks showing a white streak. Beard black and rebrown haired. Face as cheeks. Palpi brownblack, black haired. Antennae dark chestnutbrown, black haired, third joint with a long dorsal hump. Thorax dark havannabrown, redbrown, and black haired; two paler longitudinal redbrown stripes may be observed. Scutellum same colour as scutum, redbrown haired. Pteropleuron same color as scutum, black haired. Breast blackbrown, black haired, except the waxyyeloow, brown haired mesosternumlobus. Legs blackbrown, black haired, hind tibiae with redbrown spines. Wings with 2 brown oblique streaks, separating some clearer spots. Upper basal cell clear, first white streak passing base of cubutal cell, first posterior cell, disc cell, 4th and 5th posterior cells and the apex of the lower basal cell. The second white spot is situated round the fork of the cubital vein. Moreover the hindborder of the wing is slightly paler. Halteres yellow. Abdomen in bad condition; the mentioned waxyyellow spots are yellowwhite haired. Second segment blackbrown, black haired, hind border of the third segment and following segments blackbrown, black haired. Sternites devoured by insects.
