Protologue, "Collected on Santa Cruz Island, Gulf of California, by J.N. Rose, April 16, 1911 (No. 16842, type)..." This pressed specimen (USNH 638864" annotated as "type" by Rose (?) and is probably the holotype. All other US specimens are bulky specimens that to have been made from cultivated plants and are presumably original material but dubiously types.
