Cup: wood with black lacquer on the outside, red lacquer on the inside. Round bowl shape with small foot on bottom. Cup stand: wood with black lacquer. Flared base, saucer-shaped middle, and small cup-shaped cup holder. According to Chisato Dubreuil, this is used in ceremonies in which millet beer or sake was shared by men and gods. Purchased by Masahiro Nomoto at a shop in Kyoto. Purchased for the 1999 NMNH exhibit "Ainu: Spirit of a Northern People".
