From card: "Made of tanned deerskin painted in red and yellow bands on front side, with attached belt thong and, at opening, band of loom woven multi-colored beadwork in pattern of diamonds and triangles, with 7 pendant stands of red and white beads. Illus. p. 91, # 412 in Art of the Great Lakes Indians, Flint Institute of Arts, 1973, where it is attributed to the Chippewa c. 1835".
The red paint applied to this artifact resembles the red paint on some artifacts in the George Catlin collection (which was possibly applied by Catlin himself.) Therefore it is possible this object may be from the Catlin collection?
