"Late 19th century. Hemp. A dugeon is a head kerchief and a variant, hyogeon, a filial head kerchief These head kerchiefs are worn only by male mourners together with gulgeon (cat. no. E77085) and sujil or head ring (cat. no. E77088). Hough's interesting description of the item reads: "Wedge shaped; made somewhat like a grocer's paper bag of a single piece of coarse stuff."
