SHARP POINTED, SLIGHTLY TAPERED STEEL BLADE, GROOVED ON EACH SIDE, INSERTED IN A CREAM COLORED BONE HANDLE, WITH GOLD INLAID PINS. SHEATH IS CLOTH COVERED WOOD, COVERED WITH SILVER AT EACH END. STAMPED WITH TWO PAIRS OF MARKS (? TURKISH). REFERENCE: GEORGE STONE, "GLOSSARY...ARMS & ARMOR", P. 358, FIG. 450.
Information from Leonid Lantsman, 2014: Early 19th C. Ottoman Turkish kindjal dagger. Solid elephant ivory grip carved in traditional Ottoman fluted shape. Blade is watered steel wootz of qama profile. Scabbard is mounted in silver and velvet. Both silver mounts displays a sultan's tughra marking.
