From Card: "Drum cover of undecorated rawhide stretched over a cheese barrel hoop; tambourine type drum. Beater is straight wooden stick wrapped with cloth and string. Given George Ruhle by Joe Calf Child near Gliechen [sic], Alberta, August 24, 1937. Said to have belonged to donor's grandfather Omistaikopah, and said to have been beat "at the peace ceremonies when the Plains tribes made treaty with the redcoats in the '70s at place where monument commemorating same now stands." Note: Reference is to Treaty No. 7 between the Canadian government and the Blackfoot tribes at Blackfoot crossing in September, 1877 – jce [John C. Ewers] Lent to in-house exhibit: Plains Indian Art – Continuity and Change, Oct. 1987. Loan Returned Mar 1 1988. Loan SITES - Plains Art May 1 1989 Loan Returned Aug 8 1990".
