Notes:
According to the catalog card, there are supposed to be 6 knives with this catalog number. However, there are two knives marked E322668A (in addition to the five marked B through F), making a total of 7 knives. Therefore one of the two As (E322668-0 or E322668-1) might be misnumbered.
From card: "Leaf shaped blades beautifully worked, with median ridge and incisions following the lines of the edges of the blade. The handles are of well carved wood each terminating in a knob. Three of the handles are ornamented by beautifully inlaid brass and iron studs. Although attributed by Ward to the Bassongo-Meno (Nkutshu), these are illus. in Torday & Joyce "Notes ethnographiques...Bakuba", fig. 278 (p. 193) as "couteau de parade Ikula" see also p. 199. Hence Kuba accepted -G.D. Gibson 9/26/66 ACCOUNTED FOR + CLEANED Cleaned and treated, see Restoration Record # , 1-22-64."
