This object resembles one illustrated in Plate 13, after p. 40 in Densmore, Frances. 1923. "Mandan and Hidatsa music." Bureau of American Ethnology Bulletin. 80:1–192. It is identified in the book as a drumming stick used with Goose Women Society drum; the drumstick was made for Densmore by Ben Benson (a Mandan informant of Densmore). Per Densmore, the Goose Women Society "would look after the corn."
