Information from Leonid Lantsman, 2014: Uncommon 19th C. Caucasian shamshir. Most Caucasian swords are rarely of the shamshir type. This example breaks that convention and features a richly watered wootz steel blade with silver gilt and niello enamelled fittings. The handle scales are of the outer layer of walrus tooth and the crossguard is ensuite matching with the rest of the fittings.
