Information from Leonid Lantsman, 2014: Fine 18th C. Ottoman Empire shamshir sword of very fine quality. This example is related to 276693 which is of very similar construction and design. The blade on this example of very richly watered wootz steel of complex activity and featuring a rare pattern called "kirk narduban" which is visible as "ladders" or rungs perpendicular to the length of the blade. Blade is quite wide at 3cm. Silver gilt fittings are richly chased and repoussed of quasi-Greek motifs and style. The grips are carved and silver gilt of matching design to the scabbard fittings.
