From 19th or early 20th century exhibit label with card: "War Panoply. - Upper and lower part made of seven bands of seal-skin 5 1/2 inches wide, doubled and whipped together at the edges. These bands form a series like a telescoping drinking-cup. The upper yoke is a roundish frame, covered with seal-skin and made rigid. A square breast-piece or yoke is hinged on with leather strings, rudely imitating Japanese armor. Chuckchis. Asia, 1867. Collected by Commodore Rodgers, U.S.N."
