From card: "From top of grave of Apache woman. It is the habit of these Indians, when a woman dies, to place different utensils upon the top of her grave. One of these is occasionally her "carry-all" basket, of which this is one. The bleached side of this specimen was the side which had been exposed to the sun. This specimen is made of willow, in twilled twined weaving, with double-coiled border. Ornamented with four narrow bands in red and black. The basket is doubled up"
