From card: "Made from (golden eagle leg bone - A. Wetmore) used in sun-dance, belongs to sun-dance outfit."
From inventory in accession file: 1 eagle bone whistle they blow all the time they are dancing. This whistle is made from the large bone of the wing. The Indians will give a pony for such a whistle. From tag: This whistle is made of eagle bone and was used by"Henry Jim" in Sun dance. The Utes sometime give a pony for a whistle like this.
Note with whistle: both bones are from Bald Eagle, Halaetus leucocephalus (right ulnas) R.L. Zusi, June 14, 1984.
