Accession Date:

Notes:
From card: "Unfinished blanket to show process of weaving. White, black, green, yellow, gray, blue." This loom was formerly on exhibit in NMNH Exhibit Hall 11, case 15. In 2004 Harry Alden of the Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education analyzed the wood of the loom and 2 uprights (vertical supports for loom). The loom is juniper and the uprights are from the Foxtail/Pinyon pine group. Alden's opinion is that the uprights belong with the loom, rather than being exhibit props. A copy of the analysis is in the Anthropology Conservation Lab files.
