George Levi, David Ramos and Joyce Twins of the Cheyenne delegation from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma made these comments during the Recovering Voices Community Research Visit November 3-6, 2015. These are quite unusual moccasins, at first David did not think they were Cheyenne. George and Joyce said they are chief's moccasins and are very old. The "dusters" (fringe) at the heel is meant to erase your tracks as you walk. George noted that this was a style taken by the Kiowa after a battle with the Cheyenne.
