From card: "Black." Note: though this object was catalogued as black, it appears instead to be very dark navy blue. This object was formerly on exhibit in NHB Hall 9, case 20, as part of a mannequin's clothing. When it was removed from exhibit in 2004 it was examined and found to be a breech clout of dark navy blue wool trade cloth, with white selvedge edges at each end. Sides are trimmed with narrow bands of yellow and red cotton cloth. - F. Pickering 3-3-2005.
