Short bentwood visor with painted exterior decoration of red, black and yellow horizontal bands/stripes. Some decoration of sea lion whiskers on top edge of visor. Illustrated Fig. 133a, p. 133 in Black, Lydia. 2003. Aleut art = Unangam aguqaadangin. Virginia Beach, VA: Donning Co. Publishers. Identified there as Eastern Aleutian style short visor. "Short visors were worn by all and were most utilitarian headgear. Young men of high rank also wore short visors before they achieved distinction."
