Original Catalog Number: 2718-B Style: Tapestry Twist: Z Element: Fragments Shape/form: Irregular Alteration: Chemical Manufacturing Notes: Mostly twined tapestry in at east 3 & maybe 4 colors. 1 long piece of wider hair yarn typical of the spwftw product. Residue: 1 long basketry or grassy fiber. Comments: Colored patches separated by dark brown (once black?) outlining. Weft outlining done in wider yarn than the wefts which fill in the spaces delineated by the outlining. This has 2 patches of similar and possibly related frags, and a bunch of other loose fibers. Dimensions are approximate surface area. Joan Gardner (conservator) says she opened the bundle in 1977 with application of 1-5% glycerine in dist water and gentle prying with steel spatula. Time did not permit mounting in plexi. Part 1 of 14
