Original Catalog Number: 2618 Style: Craig B Raw Material 2: Busycon Element: Complete Alteration: Weathered Manufacturing Notes: Sketchy technique, both distal and apical holes intact Surface Modification: Incised Symbols: Intertwined snakes, barred oval, rattlesnake rattle, head w/ eye band & antlers, spider face motifs on snake head Residue: Thick yellow residue in basin along w/shell and other sedimentary residue. This yellow resinous or grainy stuff is probably remnant of the original contents of these shells. Use Trace: Residue & scouring inner. Portion of lower body missing along left side. Right side intact. Comments: Snake has 1 head but divides to 4 bodies which meet again at the tail.
