Design: 1 horizontal incisions near rim + hatching one side Surface Modification: Smoothed, slip, incised Color Core: 2.5YR4/0 dark gray Color Interior: 10R4/8 red Residue: Dirt Comments: Presence of some shell in temper seems weird for something that is so like Coles Creek in shape and incised design. Slip is also uncommon. James A. Brown (1970) does report that one Coles Creek vessel was slipped. Hatched design is on one side only at the point at which the sides begin to slope dramatically upward. Incised shield with 4 inner lines crossing forming diamond shapes.
