Carved wooden face, with a flat topped head and a carved strip on the forehead. The figure also has carved cheekbones, a broad, sharply flattened nose and a deep, wide hole for mouth.
From donor (about whole set of masks, catalog numbers 436281 through 436887): Miniature Masks, predominantly Dan and Bassa, Liberia. Wood. All collected in Liberia, ca 1970, by Blake Robinson; vetted by William Siegmann, the foremost expert on Liberian art; some vetting numbers remain on back. Each with much use evident in wear and patina.
