L-742 (Cheshire Quartzite)
Cheshire Quartzite, also known as Cheshire, is predominantly a massive gray argillaceous quartzite. It is gray with distinguishable green and purple hues on broken surfaces. Weathered surface is a very light gray but appears white from a distance. Inclusions such as trilobites, e.g. olenellid, are scarce and mostly poorly preserved. It has a coarse to fine grain texture. Deposits include massive rocks.
Geology remarks: Epoch- Cambrian, Series- Lower Cambrian, Form- Cheshire
Location remarks: Exposures run the length of Vermont north and south.
