L-527 (Flint Ridge Chert)
Flint Ridge, also known as Vanport, Flint Ridge Chalcedony, Nethers, Flint Ridge Flint, Ferriferous, or Ribbon Flint, is a chert or flint. It is pink, yellow, gold, orange, rose, red, peach, mauve, blue-gray, rust, brown, beige, ivory, cream, black, white, or green. When heat-treated it becomes reds, green, or blue. When weathered it becomes faded colors of the raw material. It has quartz crystals, chalcedony, and barite inclusions. It has a fine to very fine texture. Deposits are lenticular and nodular, in thick sheets, or breccia.
